arrogance??

oh i forgot to add something which i felt quite strongly about during waikiki 2006.. before the quarter final games, the emcee annouced, asking all beach soccer team captains to report to the registration booth.. upon hearing that, olsen went to the booth to recieve further instructions.. after waiting for 15 mins without anything being done at all, he asked one of the organisers, let's name him nice guy, what is going on while lionel, the presidet of the event, happen to walk by while i just stood nearby

nice guy: hey lionel, this guy has been waiting here for some time already, regarding the beach soccer quarter finals.. what's happening??

lionel: WHAT YOU WANT ME TO DO? the other team captains are not here yet.. why not i just let him walk over every other team and win the championship??

he spoke, half shouting, with a tone of superiority.. oblivious to everyone else around him.. what should i say? arrogance at its best..

waikiki 2006..

first things first.. NEVER join any smu organised events, in this case, waikiki 2006, where games such as beach soccer, beach volleyball and captain's ball was played.. BECAUSE they have a tendency to screw up.. from registration, to organisation and finally to referring of the games.. none of the organisers were time conscious too as many of the events started way behind time..

today we joined the beach soccer event.. riding high from our previous success 2 weeks ago, where we came in 2nd runners up in the beach soccer event at NTU surf and sweat 2006, we had quite high expectations of ourselves.. but you could guess what happened, if not i would not be complaning.. YES! we did not win anything as we lost in the quarter finals due to some bad referring..

however on a personal note, i felt we lost partially due to my lack of fitness.. i was practically walking throughout the whole time i were playing beacuse i tire out too easily.. everyone else in my team was fighting for every ball while i was just waiting to pounce on loose balls and score.. i was dragging my team mates to evident failure.. from that moment the final whistle was blown to signify that we had lost, i made myself a personal promise.. i am going to jog or run at least 3-4 times a week to regain my fitness, and though my brother did not believe me when i told him so, as i said that before but did not do so, this time i am determine to make it come true.. i had decided that from now onwards, any soccer competition that i am to enter with my brother and my friends, if we were to lose, we were to lose because we were not good or skilful enough, and not because i am not fit enough..

blood donation??

peipei has been trying quite unsuccessfully to get me to donate blood, partly because i heard many horror stories of blood donation (inexperienced nurses causing bruises all over because of the needle poking at incorrect spots on your arm etc.), and also i was not mentally prepared to let myself get poked by needles..

however on wednesday, i finally relented and donated blood.. i realised that donating blood isn’t such a bad experience after all.. the needle that is used to draw blood from your arm is huge, but before inserting that needle into a selected spot on your arm where the vein is, an anesthetic jab is given to that very same spot to make your arm feel numb.. after donating blood, i felt a sense of satisfaction, knowing that it could jolly well save a live..

after procrastinating for a long long time, i finally decided to get my own blog.. whew it was a breeze setting up the account, but i think to change the settings to your preffered one and to maintain it would be difficult, but nevertheless, i'll try my best..
