how do we look at others??

A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after having fought in Vietnam. He called his parents from San Francisco. "Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've a favor to ask. I have a friend I'd like to bring home with me."

"Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him."

"There's something you should know," the son continued, "he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a land mind and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live with us."

"I'm sorry to hear that, son. Maybe we can help him find somewhere to live." "No, mom and dad, I want him to live with us."

"Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're asking. Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. We have our own lives to live, and we can't let something like this interfere with our lives. I think you should just come home and forget about this guy. He'll find a way to live on his own."

At that point, the son hung up the phone. The parents heard nothing more from him. A few days later, however, they received a call from the San Francisco police. Their son had died after falling from a building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide.

The grief-stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him, but to their horror they also discovered something they didn't know, their son had only one arm and one leg.

The parents in this story are like many of us. We find it easy to love those who are good-looking or fun to have around, but we don't like people who inconvenience us or make us feel uncomfortable. We would rather stay away from people who aren't as healthy, beautiful, or smart as we are.

Thankfully, there's someone who won't treat us that way. Someone who loves us with an unconditional love that welcomes us into the forever family, regardless of how messed up we are.

Tonight, before you tuck yourself in for the night, say a little prayer that God will give you the strength you need to accept people as they are, and to help us all be more understanding of those who are different from us!!

There's a miracle called Friendship that dwells in the heart. You don't know how it happens or when it gets started but you know the special lift it always brings. And you realize that Friendship is God's most precious gift!

Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to open their hearts to us. Show your friends how much you care.

back from indonesia..

diving was great in manado.. however, ALL dive sites in manado are vertical wall diving, which i really quite dislike.. let me tell you why..

i love dives which i can see the seabed, because no matter whether the current drifts you, or you get disorientated, you can only go as deep as where the seabed is.. however, in wall dives, though you are expected to go along the allowed depth, sometimes you can go deeper than usual, and this can be quite bad.. in manado, once i was observing some puffer fishes under a rock, when suddenly there's this slight passing current pushing me away from the place.. i never thought of it seriously until i decided to look for my divemaster a minute later.. i looked up and got a shock of my life! he was as small as a large fish.. i checked my depth gauge and boy i was at nearly 50m! arghh.. i immediately did a slow ascent and stayed at 8-10m throughout the rest of the dive for decompression purposes.. haiz.. i didn't enjoy the rest of my that particular dive!

but well there are the advantages of manado though.. when you glance at the deep blue.. you occassionally see schools of tunas, trevallies or snappers swimming.. and the nudibranches i saw were nothing like i've even seen before!

all in short, the marine life was like.. WOW!! (p.s. damn it i got stung by fire corals when i tried to hold on to some corals when there was a freaking strong current)

next stop: egypt red sea or maldives.. yee hah!!

last saturday..

last saturday peipei and i went in to JB for some movies and seafood.. we watched "the holiday" at city square cinema.. it was a good show, never did regret watching it.. though i would have prefered to watch "the game of our lives".. but peipei loved watching shows with a love story line.. so we decided to go it..

after that we walked around city square, where i bought a nice looking pair of bermudas (dark blue) and a nice polo t-shirt.. it looked really nice on me when i tried it on in the fitting room..

in the evening, we went to the side streets behind city square for some seafood dinner.. boy was it good! we had a very large slice of sambal stingray and some sambal squid for only around RM 28.. if it was in singapore, i think we would have easily paid at least SGD $20, judging from the proportions we had..

but one thing i have to comment is that at the time we entered and cleared the JB customs at around 2pm and the time we left and cleared JB customs at around 9pm, the queue was just simply madness.. on the averaged, we queued at least for an hour per time.. the custom officers were not sympathetic of the sweltering heat in the enclosed area where we had to queue, and took their time!! arghh.. it just sucks manz!! and i used to think that long queues in and out were present only on friday nights and sunday nights respectively..

this evening was suppose to go running around yishun park, followed by swimming at safra, but suddenly the skies opened and it rained heavily.. thus all plans were cancelled.. it seems that even the people up there also do not want me to exercise.. hehe :p

problems problems..

recently alot of things happened at home, sadly to say, i'm thought to be the one ALWAYS at fault, and i shall not try and change this view..

is it true that your 'zhang bei' is always the one in the right, no matter what happens?

friends close to me know the true story of how some people can be real idiots and become man of a thousand faces, and they too can't help but take sides..
