cold weather here..
every morning i wake up it is to an uncertain day.. what will i be doing today? in the first place, why am i here? all updates i received are from a colleague back in singapore, and she updates me only after receiving updates from the very people who are here with me in rostov.. it is really fustrating to work like that, everyone other asshole knows i am here for this job, but nobody bothers to feed me any information.. FUCK keppel and the whole fucking project management team, espc the two guys with the same surname..anyway we are suppose to be onboard both the strips to see and supervise the ballasting operation, but when we arrived here, we realised from local river authorities that you need a permit to board the strips at anchorage.. hence now we are not sure if we'llbe able to go onboard as permits for us haven't been applied, though this was supposed to be done by BAB/dockwise.. anyways, we are checking on this matter..
just a small update so far on the progress, the PORT strip was unloaded first, followed by the STB strip, yesterdayat around 1440 hrs kerch time.. delay in unloading of both the strips on 29/30 sep 09 in kerch was due to bad weather/strong winds.. now both strips are on the way and expected to arrive to rostov (where we are) by tonight or tomorrow morning, and from here, it is another 20 hours to the first lock of the Volga Don canal.. STBD strip is experiencing heeling of about 2 degrees to outboard side, draft of 3.9m, now my colleague who is here with me is working to determine the de-ballasting sequence and after that we'll submit it to local river authorities to do the necessary.. the only problem is we're not sure if we're able to de-ballast into the river, but we are assured to be able to..
about us going to see the strips going into the first lock is doubtful as they claim it to be a secure area/militarised zone.. also, the difference between the entry of each strip into the lock is 5 days as the authorities do not want the strips to block the locks..
let's hope all jobs can be completed ASAP, so that i am able to come back to Singapore on 8 Oct 09 because the weather here is really cold.. 6 degreesC in the morning with strong winds.. noon is usually 15 degreesC with little winds and night is about 4 degreesC with moderate winds.. rain is expected for the whole day tomorrow, which is likely to bring the temperature down further..
