finally its over..
i'm glad that the worse chapter of my life in Keppel Shipyard (or is there another even worse period?) is finally coming to an end.. the fucking Bumi Armada's Derrick Lay Barge has finally been delivered..to say that i have learnt nothing for the past one year is an understatement, in fact, i've practically wasted the past one year of my time, i have learnt nothing new.. although i am assistant project manager by designation, i am never included in contract discussion, never kept in the loop for most matters (except those that i needed to do follow up) and never allowed to make the smallest of decisions.. even meetings with owner, contractors together with trade foreman, i am never notified, and i would not know about it if i never happen to walk past the meeting rooms..
the project is conincidentally headed by two jokers with the same surname, both with selfish "i know" attitudes, who care for nothing about sharing information, first to blame people when things go wrong, shooting "arrow" king, never do proper planning of jobs and talking without checking thus causing people to get into trouble etc., just to name a few..
however, it's hard to deny, ironically, that i've truly enjoyed myself in the project, knowing personally most of the workers i've come across, where they stay, how many sibilings they have and what they do in their free time in singapore.. the camaraderie spirit forged with my foreman and supervisors, not to mention the help i've received unconditionally when i truly need help.. when the two jokers ask people to do things, it usually takes long time to be done or it never actually gets done.. but for me, with enough personal effort, it can be done quickly, whoo hoo..
i love it here in Keppel Shipyard (Benoi) becasue of the people, but sad to say, i am still determined to leave for greener pastures after the year 2009 bonus, to be given in january 2010, because i seriously hate the management and the top management here, fu*ki*g arseholes who never give a damn about the people resources here..
for now, dry dock world or sembawang shipyard, looks the best bet for me, as i can expect to do something similiar like what i am doing in Keppel, but i am also exploring other options that may include DSTA (research), Exxon Mobil or Shell, doing project management..
